Mircea has been working for UITP for five years, developing a wide array of statistical publications on multiple urban mobility topics. He has also contributed to the UITP advocacy activities, using data and examples to promote the benefits of public transport for cities.
Before joining UITP, Mircea was a Communications and Projects Officer at the European Transport Safety Council, where he coordinated a range of projects aimed to reduce risks for various groups of road users. Mircea holds an M.A. degree in European Politics and Policies from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and B.A. degrees in Political Science and Journalism from the American University in Bulgaria.

Commuter Railway LandscapeThe presentation will highlight key features and metrics of commuter railway services, focusing on the situation and regional profiles in key countries and regions, while also explaining the role that commuter railways play in serving wider urban areas worldwide. Several comparisons are also made with European systems, using data from the 2016 publication on regional and suburban railways.
