Mr Francesco Sperandio graduated in Physics in 2003 at the University of Genoa, Italy. After collaboration with Max Planck Institute, in 2005 he joined RINA Consulting S.p.A. (formerly D’Appolonia) in the Transport Division and worked since the beginning of his working experience on Railway projects. He acquired experience in risk assessment and safety demonstration of technological systems. His knowledge spans from the scenario analysis and requirement apportionment, their implementation at Project level and relevant safety studies. Since the beginning, Mr. Sperandio matured also experience in working as technical partner in EC funded projects, such as MERLIN, NGTC and ERSAT GGC. Regarding these two projects he is the technical reference for the execution of the Risk Assessment and Safety Studies concerning with the integration of new technologies within the Railway System. Currently, he is the Director of RINA Transport & Infrastructure Excellence Centre with the responsibility of the engineering T&I services.

    E-LOBSTER, an innovative Railway to Grid Management System

    E-LOBSTER will develop an innovative Railway to Grid Management system which, combined with advanced power electronics, will reduce electricity losses in both the power distribution network and the railway network. The system will make the best use of the available energy on both the grids by increasing their mutual synergies and maximizing the consumption of RES production through energy storages.
