FAIRTIQ - public transport made easy

Approx. 7 years ago, the Swiss public transport industry discussed the introduction of a BeIn, BeOut (BiBo) system valid nationwide for every mode of transport as a means of making the public transport system easier to use. However, this meant that sensors would have had to be installed in every vehicle and gateline. This massive undertaking would take a good decade and cost around half a billion EUR. Unsurprisingly the scheme was rejected. FAIRTIQ's founders saw an opportunity to use advanced AI technology to achieve the same result at a fraction of the cost. They set themselves an ambitious goal: in just one year and with invest. costs of only 1M EUR, they would develop a BiBo solution and bring it to market. The result was the FAIRTIQ app, launched in 04/2018 nationwide in Switzerland. With just one swipe, passengers receive a valid travel permit on the phone, and on completion of the journey (can be multi-leg and multi-operator) are charged the best price for the journey undertaken.
