Ashkan Pirooz obtained his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Zanjan with a thesis focused on model predictive control of converters for energy storage and renewable generation applications in 2015. He also holds a Power Systems Engineering B.Sc. degree from Urmia University. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. degree concentrating on Battery Storage Systems at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). His research interests include battery systems, renewable energy generation, and model predictive control.


  • June 11: E-buses for the masses

    Feasibility study of reconfigurability between different power transmission concepts

    This research has been done in the framework of ASSURED project towards fast and smart charging solutions for electric urban heavy-duty vehicles. The study has been conducted through electrical, mechanical, and communication modifications made on charging infrastructure and electric buses to investigate reconfiguration of state of the art of fast charging inverted and roof-mounted pantographs into each other. Standardization points of view are also included to ensure interoperability support by either pantograph solutions.
