Almar is a Dutch citizen, born in 1964 in the Netherlands. In 1988 he successfully concluded his studies at Delft University of Technology and obtained an MSc degree in electrical engineering. Today Almar is responsible for Sales and Marketing for ABB’s fast growing Bus & Truck charging infrastructure business in a number of European countries such as France, Germany and Sweden. Working at the Global Product Group EV infrastructure in Rijswijk, The Netherlands he closely works together with the local sales organizations, OEM’s and PTO’s. Almar joined ABB in 2013 where he worked as Marketing Specialist for Power Transformer Components in Sweden before joining the EV business in The Netherlands. He was already involved in electric bus pilot projects in 2012 in the Netherlands for Dutch company Imtech. Prior to that Almar held several international Marketing & Sales positions in organizations such as Thales, Fokker and Stork. Almar is married and father to two children, he speaks seven European languages and in his spare time likes to go sailing or skiing.

Smart efficient bus charging infrastructureAn overview of electrical vehicle charging solutions in historical perspective is given, Differences between car and bus charging are presented and how to make use of economies of scale to come to cost effective solutions. Bus charging methodologies and their standardization are presented and illustrated with cases. The final part of this presentation is dedicated to putting the bus charging infrastructure in its context: How to efficiently connect to the power grid, how to integrate with fleet management, how to effectively manage and maintain the infrastructure?
