Art transit exchanges : Brussels – MontrealSummary of the speech for Summit website (max. 900 characters incl. spaces)
Brussels and Montreal, two cities and metro networks, separated by the ocean, which share the same ideal. This ideal is the symbiosis of art and architecture. They paved the way by integrating artworks in almost all of their stations, for the greater benefit of their users. With this project, they met to explore their shared cultural history.
The result is a bold cultural exchange: a work created by a Brussels artist for a station in Montreal, and another created by a Montreal artist for the Brussels metro network. Here and elsewhere, which now unites Brussels and Montreal holding a deep significance. It represents the expression of artists for a metro, but also, real and imaginary mobility for people.
