In 1992, Ramon Malla began working in the area of public transport, when he joined TMB. He first worked in the Area of Organization and Technology and was later promoted to Director of Organization of TMB. In 2001, he changed to operational activities as Controlling Metro Manager. In 2004, he was appointed Director of Automated Metro Lines, L9 and L10 Barcelona’s newest lines inaugurated in 2009, and in this position he was in charge of projects and operation of these lines. In 2016 he was appointed Strategic Projects Director, responsible of the key projects in the metro network, with special focus on innovation and digitalization.
Mr Malla is the Chairman of the UITP Observatory of Automated Metros and member of the UITP Metro Committee. The Observatory of Automated Metros gathers the world’s leading operators with experience in fully automated operations. It exchanges best practices in key issues affecting automated metro operation and monitors the global evolution and trends in line automation development and implementation.
Ramon Malla is a Computer Science Engineer, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
