Enric Cañas is from 2015 the CEO of TMB, the public company which is operating metro and buses in Barcelona (Spain).
Before of this job he has been occupying different jobs always in the area of mobility, in companies and public administrations in several Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Zaragoza.
Enric is civil engineer (Polytechnic University of Barcelona) specialized in transportation and urban planning. He is passionate about innovation.
Currently he is always a member of the UITP Executive Board, ATUC board (Association of Urban Public Transport Spanish Companies), ATM (Metropolitan Mobility Authority of Barcelona, in the executive board), SOC Mobilitat (Company in charge of the introduction of the contact-less card) , TCC (a mixed public private bus operator in Barcelona), among others

    The use of mass information as a basic element for solving problems started in TMB in 2006-2009 with the monitoring of switch points drives.
    Applying an artificial intelligence algorithm a system that anticipates failures in these systems has been reached.
    The reliability of that facility has been doubled, the time without running of this facility has decreased by 7.5 times and the expenses have been also reduced by 2.45 times.
    But the best of this initiative is not a concrete result, but the creation of a new cultural transformation in our company that has facilitated a whole series of projects which are spreading throughout the whole company.
    We are working on predicting the demand to be able, when possible, to adapt the supply to it and as well we are adapting the company to the new digital structure of the mobility business through a cultural change.
