As Commissioner of TfL, Mike is responsible for ensuring the delivery of world-class transport services to keep London working, growing and to make life in the Capital better for residents, visitors and businesses. He oversees a major investment programme, one of the largest and most complex in Europe. He first joined London Underground in 1989 and worked in various operational manager roles before becoming the company’s Chief Operating Officer in 2003. In 2008, he left to be the boss of Heathrow, then the world’s busiest international airport. He rejoined London Underground in 2010 as Managing Director leading the work which has resulted in huge improvements to the Tube, leading to more frequent and reliable services across the network. He led the successful delivery of transport for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was appointed as TfL Commissioner in September 2015.
