2021 SUMMIT CANCELLATION

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • Why is the UITP Global Public Transport Summit being cancelled?

    With the coronavirus pandemic ongoing, and restrictions in place on international travel into Australia for 2021, we came to recognise we could not host the type of first-class industry gathering that the UITP Global Summit has come to be known as.

  • Will the UITP Global Public Transport Summit be offered as an online-only event?

    No. After analysing the feasibility, we came to recognise that the UITP Summit value proposal does not suit to a digital format.

  • Will the UITP Summit in Melbourne be postponed to 2022?

    No, the 2021 UITP Summit edition is not being postponed, it is being officially cancelled.
    The 2021 Summit was previously postponed in 2020 (from June 2021 to December 2021), but is now being cancelled in a joint decision by both UITP and the Victorian Department of Transport in light of the continuing travel restrictions as a result of the pandemic. The next edition is already in place for Barcelona, Spain in June 2023.

  • Will the UITP Summit be rescheduled in Melbourne in the near future?

    Melbourne is a wonderful location to host a global event such as the UITP Summit.
    We know that our connection with the city and the Victorian Department of Transport will remain strong in the times ahead, and we look forward to the possibility of organising the Summit in Melbourne in the future with the support of the Melbourne Convention Bureau.

SPONSORSHIP & EXHIBITION

  • Will I be refunded?

    Yes. UITP will refund sponsors and exhibitors who have already paid for their fees.
    A form will be sent out on 22 March 2021 to be signed and submitted by the sponsor to receive a refund. A credit note will be sent by mid-April 2021 to cancel the already issued invoices. The refunds are anticipated to be processed by 30 April 2021.

  • Instead of a refund, can I have a credit toward another UITP event in the future?

    Yes. You may roll over your financial commitment to another event. Our team is there to discuss future opportunities with you.

  • Will I be refunded for event venue expenses or A/V and catering agreements for my planned events organised around the Summit?

    No. UITP is unable to provide refunds for any event venues expenses you have contracted. Sponsors and exhibitors are responsible for cancelling all related activities including meetings or event spaces.

  • When will sponsorship brochure for the UITP Summit 2023 become available?

    All sponsors will be sent an email announcement with links to the UITP 2023 Summit sponsorship brochure in the coming months.

  • When will exhibit space for the UITP Summit 2023 become available?

    All exhibitors will be sent an email announcement with links to the UITP 2023 Summit Exhibit Floor plan, Rules & Regulations, and the Application for Exhibit Space in the coming months

ABSTRACT & POSTER SUBMISSION

  • I have submitted an abstract/poster. What will you do with it?

    We will do our best to make the best possible use for UITP membership and community of the knowledge shared in the abstracts submitted, in close cooperation with the members of the Summit programme committee. Although we cannot move forward with them for the Summit in Melbourne, we hope that you will continue to engage with UITP in the times ahead.

Submitters are asked to contact Audrey De Wael, Speakers Management Officer, directly with all questions pertaining to their abstract and poster submissions.

HOUSING & TRAVEL

  • Will I be refunded for accommodation booking?

    If you booked your accommodation through our preferred housing agency, ICMS Australasia, your reservation will be cancelled. The official housing partner will contact the hotels in Melbourne to cancel room reservations and refund deposits to companies that secured rooms in the official UITP housing block.
    In the event you did not book your accommodation through our official housing partner, you must contact your hotel directly to cancel your reservations.

  • Will I be refunded for airline tickets or other travel costs?

    No. UITP will not reimburse individuals for airline ticket purchases. Many airlines are waiving change fees and frequently updating their policies. Please get in contact directly with your airline agency for cancellations, refunds or vouchers. UITP cannot contact the airlines on your behalf.
